Friday, September 25 is a public holiday. Monday the 28th is Teacher’s Day. Together they make a four-day weekend, which is the longest pause September offers. The interesting work is not on the 25th. It is the four days before it.

Book the HSR now if you are leaving the basin, and book a reserved seat. Non-reserved cars on Thursday night are a standing room with luggage. The TRA east-coast trains are worse. If you do not have a ticket by Sunday, stay, or go somewhere the MRT still reaches.

Clinics and the dentist should be dealt with before Thursday. Large hospitals run a holiday schedule; the neighborhood clinic you like may simply close. We already wrote the English-friendly list. This is the reminder to use it this week, not to discover the shutter on Friday.

The rest is social, and it is not optional in the way people mean when they say they are tired. Someone will mention a balcony, a courtyard, or a park barbecue. Say yes. Bring fruit — pomelos are the assigned object in the supermarket this week — and drinks that can sit on tile. Do not bring a speech about lanterns. Taipei does not do the harbour thing. Look at the moon when they look at it. That is the entire ritual.

We wrote the explainer three weeks ago. This letter is the operational one. Do the errands. Answer the text. Then the holiday is just a holiday.
